Engaging Muslim Communities (WORLDREMIT)

WorldRemit is an online money transfer service that helps migrants from developing countries working in developed countries to send money to friends and family through its mobile app and web service.

We have been working with the company since 2015 as a full time marketing agency. Our job is to help them with all their marketing activation in UK, Nordic, Germany and Uganda.

CHALLENGE

Somalis in the United Kingdom include British citizens and residents born in or with ancestors from Somalia. It is thought that the United Kingdom (UK) is home to the largest Somali community in Europe, with an estimated 108,000 Somali-born immigrants residing in the UK in 2018 according to the Office for National Statistics. The majority of these live in England, with the largest number found in London. Smaller Somali communities exist in BirminghamBristolManchesterLiverpoolLeicesterMilton KeynesSheffield and Cardiff.

Our brief was to reach out to the Somali community to create awareness to WorldRemit services within this closed community.

  • Our task was to find effective ways to raise their awareness about the trustworthy money transfer service among the target audience
  • Educate the audience about the benefits of sending the money online, rather the offline via agents
  • Our task was to find effective ways to raise their awareness about the trustworthy money transfer service among the Somali audience

  • The campaign was launched in London. Some of the activities included:
    • Sponsor various events
    • Street activations in areas predominantly with the Somali audiences
    • Due to Covid, we donated school materials etc to charities and community groups.
