MTN Kampala Marathon (WorldRemit)

Despite being less convenient for the sender and generally worse value for money, many migrants prefer to use Offline money transfer instead of Online to send money home. WorldRemit wanted to change that by raising awareness of its service benefits with receivers so to encourage their sender to use WorldRemit to send them money.

  • Engage and promote WorldRemit brand awareness at the MTN Kampala marathon where over 100,000 runners participate at the annual marathon.

WorldRemit (UK) activations

The 2011 UK Census recorded 59,227 Ugandan-born residents in England, 588 in Wales, 986 in Scotland, and 82 in Northern Ireland. The Office for National Statistics estimates that in 2014, 51,000 people born in Uganda were resident in the UK. It is now estimated that over 150,000 Ugandans live in the UK.

WorldRemit wanted to start offline campaign to target Ugandans communities in the UK and Nordic.

  • Our task was to find effective ways to raise their awareness about the trustworthy money transfer service among the target audience
  • Educate the audience about the benefits of sending the money online, rather the offline via agents

A reliable Service!

Willy Mutenza and his team have supported WorldRemit over several years with that relationship expanding over time from some ad hoc support into a fully fledged partnership which it is today. Through his agency Promota, Willy has been invaluable in supporting the growth of the WorldRemit brand with grass roots events, community engagement and larger mainstream events across the UK. We’ve been delighted with the consistency, ownership and professionalism of Willy and his team and the way in which they have become a de-facto part of the internal team. The biggest compliment I can give Willy & his team is that when we agree an activity we relax, because we’re sure of the execution.
